A superb view! Roadside Station "Gurutto Panorama Bihoro Pass".

Hello everyone. This is the Hokkaido Communications Department. Today, we would like to introduce you to the roadside station "Gurutto Panorama Bihoro Toge". The elevation of the roadside station "Gurutto Panorama Bihoro Pass" is about 525 meters above sea level, and it is located at the top of Bihoro Pass overlooking Lake Kussharo, one of the largest caldera lakes in Japan. Located in Akan-Mashu National Park, it was the 76th roadside station registered in Hokkaido in 2002. It has been ranked first in the landscape category in the annual Hokkaido "Michi-no-Eki" ranking by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for six consecutive years, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the East Hokkaido area, attracting 600,000 visitors annually.
Lake Kussharo, as seen from the observatory, has a magnificent view that is unmistakably Hokkaido, and despite being a huge lake, the water is very beautiful, and it is said that 80% of the water source is spring water. The lake is said to be 80% spring water. The lake gradually begins to freeze over around December every year, and the entire lake can be seen frozen over until around March.

The take-out menu includes the very popular "Bihoro Toge no Aged Imo (fried sweet potato)," ice cream made with local Bihoro maple syrup, and a total of five kinds of ice cream, including Kumazasa flavor, that can be enjoyed only here. In addition, the Bihoro Toge store, an apparel and sundry goods store operating in Tokyo and Sapporo, sells a selection of selected products from the Okhotsk area and other specialties.

Why don't you take a breather?

The original blend of the pass, roasted at the "Clock Tower Coffee Shop" in Bihoro Town, is made from selected coffee beans that have been tried and tested, and the blend ratio is also carefully selected. The original lemonade is made with homemade pickled lemons. Whether you like coffee or lemonade, why not take a break and enjoy a cup of your favorite coffee or lemonade? Please enjoy it with bread from "Wheat Slave," which is also located in the restaurant.

You may be able to see the sea of clouds from the spectacular view spot, Bihoro Pass Observation Deck.

In the coming season, the sea of clouds appears from September to November. The sea of clouds appears from dawn to around 8:00 am. In addition, cloud seas are more likely to occur when the temperature difference between the daytime of the previous day and the early morning of the next day is approximately 10°C or higher, the humidity is high and it is cool enough, and there is a clear sky and no wind.
