The Koga Fireworks Festival, a summer tradition in Ibaraki Prefecture, will be held for the 20th time this year! The Koga Fireworks Festival has become an annual event since the establishment of the new city of Koga in Ibaraki Prefecture in 2005, when one city and two towns were merged into one, and one of its most popular features is the launching of two three-shaku dama (three-foot fireworks) with a diameter of 650 meters. While most of the fireworks in Tokyo are No.5 size balls, the three large balls at the Koga Fireworks Festival are exceptionally large and well worth seeing.
