History of Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten

In the old days, Toyama's medicine dealers traveled around the country to sell medicine in various places. Among them was "Antikontan," a gastrointestinal drug representative of Toyama, which was created in the Edo period. The Japanese and Chinese medicine wholesaler Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten was founded in 1936 and started manufacturing and selling "Antikontan".

The stately white-walled storehouse building is the oldest wooden structure in the central city. Inside the store, the company sells its own Japanese and Chinese medicines and herbal teas, and professional pharmacists provide counseling services. The retro and unique packages lined up in rows do not look like drugs being sold, and you will be tempted to buy many of them.

At Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten, demonstrations using a former pill-making machine are held in the storefront. Those who wish to try it can do so for free!
