Fireworks in Noshiro
Have you ever heard of the "Noshiro Fireworks", the only one in Tohoku to launch a 3-shaku (3.5 meter) ball of fireworks? This colorful concert of lights will be held on Saturday, July 19, with the World Natural Heritage Site "Shirakami Sanchi" in the background, as fireworks are launched one after another from "Noshiro Port" to vividly color the night sky.

History of Fireworks in Noshiro

The history of fireworks in Noshiro dates back to 1958 as a commemorative event for the recovery from the Great Noshiro Fire, and in 1965, the National Fireworks Competition was held as the birthplace of "Competitive Fantasy Fireworks", which continued 22 times until 1979. However, the number of imported lumber entering Noshiro Port increased, making it impossible to secure a venue for the fireworks, and the event had to be canceled in 1980. In an effort to revitalize the local community, the event was revived in 2003 as the "1st Noshiro Port Festival Fireworks Display: A Ring of Illusion Revived in the Night Sky of Noshiro," and in 2012 the title was changed to "Fireworks in Noshiro," making this the 45th time the event has been held.

The 21st Port Festival: Noshiro Fireworks

Starmine
This year's fireworks will be held in Noshiro!
This year's theme is "RESTART - Resonate Light and Wind"

The entire program is composed of Starmine (rapid-firing continuous fireworks), a powerful wide fireworks display on a grand scale, and is popular as a highly entertaining fireworks event. Also, the launching of Tohoku's only 3-shaku-dama (a 3.5 meter high ball) is a must-see! With the World Natural Heritage Site "Shirakami Sanchi" in the background, as many as 15,000 fireworks are launched one after another from "Noshiro Port" to brightly illuminate the night sky. Paid spectator seats are recommended for viewing the fireworks! Mass seating and chair seating are also available, so you can enjoy the fireworks in a relaxed atmosphere.
