Where should we go for our summer plans this year? If so, Kamogawa Sea World in Chiba Prefecture is the place to go. It is one of the few aquariums in Japan where killer whales are bred, and it is one of the few aquariums in Japan where you can see a joint performance between a killer whale and a trainer, among others!

It takes about 2 hours from Tokyo Station to Kamogawa Sea World by JR East's Wakashio limited express train, and a 10-minute ride on the free shuttle bus. On weekends and during vacations, the "Shinjuku Wakashio", a temporary limited express train, is in service, providing excellent access from Shinjuku, allowing you to enjoy the aquarium either as a day trip or overnight stay.

In addition to performances, there is also feeding time where you can watch the animals eat and discovery guidance (for a fee) where you can interact with the animals, so if you try to visit them all, you will not be able to do so in one day. If you want to take your time, we recommend you purchase a 2-DAY ticket or use the hotel located next to the museum. In particular, the Discovery Guidance allows you to touch the animals and take commemorative photos up close, so if you have children with you, you may want to give priority to this option.

Kamogawa Sea World is characterized by its many performances. The killer whale performance at Ocean Stadium is particularly impressive and well worth seeing! How you get around the performances is the key to enjoying Kamogawa Sea World.

The animals' performances are held in order at 30-minute intervals. You can go around in order, but many visitors come during the summer vacation. Since you have come all the way here, you want to experience the orcas with great power. During the busy season, it is necessary to take a seat. Skip the previous performance and go get a seat for the killer whales. Again, if time permits, you may want to experience Feeding Time and Discovery Guidance. The food court also sells snacks and sweets, so it is recommended to eat at the seating stands during free time before or after the performance.

Don't forget to pack your rain poncho here. The Summer Splash, held only during the summer months, offers more splashing than usual. During the killer whale performance, the seats in the front will certainly get you all wet. You will get soaked down to your feet, as if you had fallen into the water.

If you forget your poncho, don't worry. Ponchos will be sold before the performance, and we recommend purchasing one if you don't want to get wet. Also, as a rough guide to getting wet, the seats from the front to the 8th row are the wet zone, and the further forward you go, the more likely you are to get wet, so sit in the seat of your choice. The more you go to the front, the more likely you are to get wet, so sit in the seat you want. The power of the mighty killer whales may cause you to get splashed even in the less wet zone such as standing room.
