2024 Tateyama Kurobe Yukino Ootani Festival will be held from Monday, April 15 to Tuesday, June 25!

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route was fully opened and started operating on Monday, April 15 this year! When you think of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in spring, the first thing that comes to mind is "Yuki-no-Otani" (Snow Valley). 2024 Tateyama Kurobe Snow Valley Festival will be held from April 15 (Monday) to June 25 (Tuesday), 2024!

What is the "Tateyama Kurobe Snow Valley Festival"?

This event will be held from April to June every year, mainly in Tateyama Murododaira, and will mark the beginning of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. During the festival period, we have prepared events under two themes, 1st STAGE and 2nd STAGE, where you can enjoy the transitions and changes of nature seen from spring to early summer! Here is information on each event and its highlights.

1st STAGE Let's enjoy Tateyama in spring! (4/15~5/31)

Main Event "Yuki-no-Otani Walk

Tateyama Murododaira, located 2,450 meters above sea level, is one of the world's heaviest snowfall areas. Among them, "Ootani" near Murodou is a snowdrift area where snow accumulates particularly heavily, sometimes exceeding 20 meters in depth. The huge wall of snow that is created by plowing the road through this "Ootani" is called "Yuki-no-Ootani (Snow Valley). The height of this year's snow wall is 14 meters, slightly higher than last year! If you want to see a higher and whiter wall of snow, it is recommended to visit just after the opening of the road.

Extension of the route! Panorama Road

For a limited time only, the "Panorama Road" is a snow-covered promenade that extends outside of Yuki-no-Otani, and this year, it will be extended not only by the Hokuriku Shinkansen but also by this line! This time, it will be extended and connected from the main venue to the Murodo Terminal. There will be plenty of spots to take pictures and enjoy the snow, so please come and enjoy the event.

Snow Calendar

Information on the timing of snowfall, etc., researched from cross sections of snow walls, is on display. By learning how the snow fell, visitors can further enjoy the Snowy Valley!

2nd STAGE Let's walk around Tateyama Murododaira in early summer! (6/1~6/25)

Get a limited-edition "Mikurigaike Card" at Mikurigaike Onsen (hot spring), located a short walk up the stairs from Mikurigaike Observation Deck, a sightseeing spot in Tateyama Murododaira!

Experience Tateyama Murodou-daira in early summer at your ease! Stamp rally

This is a special stamp rally in which visitors can complete a picture by collecting stamps at four locations around the Murodo Terminal! The special stamps can be used as postcards, so why don't you send your loved ones happy memories of Tateyama?

Snow Corridor

A "small" snow ravine is created by clearing snow from the pathway connecting the rooftop of the Murodo Terminal and the Tateyama Nature Conservation Center. Although small, the snow wall around April is more than 8 meters high, so you can experience the power of the snow.
