< Confrontation card > Hokkaido octopus vs. Aomori scallops

Hokkaido boasts the nation's largest catch of seafood, one of which is the octopus. The world's largest octopus, Mizudako, is found throughout Hokkaido. One of the most famous is in the Toi district of Hakodate. The fishing season is nearing its peak in early summer, just prior to the spawning season, when fishing is prohibited.
Aomori Scallops]
Aomori scallops boast the largest catch of any marine product in Aomori Prefecture. Most of them are grown in Mutsu Bay. Surrounded by the Tsugaru Peninsula and Shimokita Peninsula and connected to a rich forest, scallops grow in the bay while eating plenty of phytoplankton. They grow rapidly from the time the cherry blossoms bloom, and finally come into season in early summer.
Aomori and Hokkaido's gourmet foods and sightseeing spots are introduced in a showdown format!
