Hello, this is the Hokuriku editorial department! This is the Hokuriku Editorial Department. We stayed at the Kissho Yamanaka in February 2024! We will be posting many photos from our stay so that you can use them as a reference when selecting a ryokan.

Welcome drink

The welcome drink we had when we stayed in February was a lovely pink-colored plum tea! It is gorgeous with gold leaf...!

Afternoon tea with Kaga pancakes

They offer plain pancakes and Kaga-bocha or sake-kasu pancakes, which change daily! On the day I visited, it was the Kaga-bocha pancake. The live cooking process right in front of your eyes is also a great experience...!
There are also toppings available, so you can enjoy changing the flavor!

Cute colored yukata

After checking in, if you want to go out to the hot spring resort area, be sure to change into a colored yukata before you go! We are happy to offer not only yukata but also accessories and geta (Japanese clogs) for rent at Kissho Yamanaka!
There are so many colors to choose from, even just the obi (sash), that it's hard to decide....
Of course, men's yukata are also available, so we recommend them for couples as well! Even beginners can try tying the obi, as there are easy-to-understand illustrations to show you how to do it.

At the lobby lounge

From 7:00 to 22:00, you can enjoy freshly ground coffee in Kutani ware cups, black tea, Kaga stick tea, green tea, apple juice, orange juice, and other soft drinks, and from 16:00 to 18:00, you can enjoy alcoholic cocktails and Kaga sweet treats during Happy Hour. The day I stayed at the restaurant, I had sweet potato! (I had a second helping of sweet potato!)

Dinner venue "Benihana

Kissho Yamanaka has three dinner venues, each serving different dishes. The author had a kaiseki dinner at the "Benibana" restaurant. What I would like those who use Benibana to experience is...

SAKE BAR Benigura

A dedicated sake server with a large selection of carefully selected local sake from the prefecture! You can choose from three different types of sake (1,200 yen) or five different types (1,800 yen), and you can also choose from Kutani ware, Yamanaka lacquerware, Noto tin, and Notojima glassware!
A small piece of paper with the brand name on it is also available so that you don't lose track of what you have put in your sake! Although most of the sake in the lineup is from the Hokuriku region, there were also a few from other regions available.
I wanted to conquer it and ended up drinking too much....

Sweets before bedtime

After being filled with hearty kaiseki dishes and sake, we were offered KAGA pudding as a pre-dinner service.
This pudding is a collaboration between "Hiramatsu Farm" in Kaga and Kissho Yamanaka. The smooth pudding made with freshly squeezed milk was already filling! I was able to enjoy it even after dinner.

Breakfast at "Aotake

Breakfast was a TEPPAN breakfast at "Aotake" instead of "Benibana," the dinner venue! They bake Western breakfasts right in front of you so you can eat them freshly made.
You can have your French toast or omelette cooked on the griddle. You can choose the sauce for the omelette, and the cheese powder is freshly shaved and fluffy...!
Since most Japanese inns serve Japanese food at night, it was a good point to be able to enjoy Western food the next day.

Hospitality we could not enjoy enough

There is much more to Kichijo Yamanaka! Free private baths, evening performances of traditional Yamanaka-bushi music, and hot-spring excursions to the group ryokan "Kagari Kissho" are just a few examples of the hospitality offered! It may be difficult to enjoy all of them in just one night and two days, but we hope you will enjoy your stay for two nights or more! We recommend a relaxing stay of two nights or more.
If you want to go to Kaga Dynamic Rail Pack" is a great deal which includes a train and a hotel!
