The Science Zone and Space Zone are recommended for visitors with children, as they include many hands-on exhibits!
In the Science Zone, visitors can intuitively learn about the principles of science in a playful way by adjusting the wind force and direction while carrying a ball or other object to the goal. It may look difficult, but you can try as many times as you like, so please try to reach the goal.
In the Space Zone, you can experience the changing gravity on the moon, Mars, and other planets, as well as experience weightlessness in a 360-degree rotating device, the same mechanism actually used to train astronauts. Misawa in winter is famous for this! Misawa Hokki-don (hittomabushi)!

Misawa hokki donburi (hitsu-mabushi) Hokki-don is only available until the end of March.
Hokki-gai, a typical winter delicacy of Misawa, is served in hitsu-mabushi (a type of rice cake). The raw and seared hokki-gai are served half raw and half seared, so first enjoy the difference in texture. When you have eaten about half of the hokki, pour the special hokki-style soup stock over it for a chazuke-style meal! Nori (seaweed) and sesame seeds are included as condiments, so you can enjoy the change of taste in this hokki donburi.

The ultimate fried horse mackerel! Half-Horse Fish Fried Set Meal

Aomori Kappou Kyuan is a local delicacy in Misawa! Satisfy yourself with fluffy pancakes at Cafe Alouette.

cafe alouette (interior)
[cafe alouette] is a cafe where you can enjoy delicious meals and sweets such as pasta, hamburgers, and pancakes using mainly local ingredients. The Western-style exterior and white-colored interior create a stylish atmosphere. When you open the menu, you will find many kinds of pancakes! They all look delicious, but this time I decided to have plain pancakes and seasonal fruit pancakes.

The most popular menu item! Plain Pancakes

Hibari no Hane Pancake (plain pancake)
The topping is simply whipped cream. The three large pancakes are quite hearty, but the fluffy batter and the texture that disappears when you put them in your mouth are so addictive that even one person could eat them in a single sitting. The maple syrup and pancake whipped cream, which I ordered additionally, went perfectly with the pancakes! I ate it like crazy.

A photo-worthy dish! Seasonal Fruit Pancakes

Hibari no Hane Pancake (seasonal fruit pancake)
The sweet dough enhances the sweetness of the fruit in this dish! Combined with the light whipped cream, I couldn't stop eating. A plate lined with colorful fruits is so gorgeous that you can't help but take a picture of it.

The store also sells other baked goods, puddings, dressings, and other items for souvenirs and gifts!
If you want to order only pancakes, please note that they are served from 14:00.

Local soft serve? Burdock Tea Soft Ice Cream

This was the first time for me to try the burdock tea soft serve ice cream sold at the store!
This soft serve ice cream is made from burdock tea produced in Misawa, which is one of the largest burdock producers in Japan!

What does it taste like?

Burdock tea soft ice cream

It is very delicious!

It has a savory, almost nutty flavor, not too sweet, and easy to eat!
The crunchy texture of burdock tea accents the taste!

The waffle cone was also a personal highlight... ♪

We finished it in no time and had coffee after the meal.

Thank you for the meal!

The store also has a Misawa Air Force burger, paica dishes, and other menu items that I am looking forward to trying next time I visit!
