- Sightseeing
This is a hole-in-the-wall cherry blossom viewing spot about 15 minutes by train from Morioka!
After passing through a residential area, you will be surrounded by trees, and the river parallel to the railroad line is a clear stream.
After getting off at the nearest station, Kamihonai Station, and walking for about 2 minutes, you will arrive at the Yonai Water Filtration Plant.
The Yonai Water Filtration Plant is usually closed to visitors. It is a hidden cherry blossom viewing spot in Morioka that is open to the public only when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
About 30 Yaebeni shidare higanzakura (weeping cherry) trees are protected as Morioka City Important Landscape Trees, and the gracefully swaying weeping cherry trees have a different character from someiyoshino cherry trees.
Recommendation 1: You can enjoy the cherry blossoms even if the season is out of season!
