About Tazawako Kogen Snow Festival

The "Tazawako Kogen Snow Festival" will be held on February 21 (Sat.) and 22 (Sun.) at the Lake Tazawa Ski Resort in Senboku City, Akita Prefecture. At the venue lined with snow sculptures created by snow sculptors and university art students, various events will be held, including the "soup-bowl grand prix," a snow treasure hunting contest, and a kettle sledding contest (time trial on a tube)!

The Snow Treasure Hunting Contest is an attraction where visitors search for capsules that lie hidden in the snowy mountains, and is an event that even small children can enjoy. The capsules contain miniature toys and numbered pieces of paper, and the numbered pieces of paper can be exchanged for prizes. Gloves are required as they dig and search in the snow piles!

The Kettle Sledding Competition is a time trial event with tubing. There are two divisions, one for elementary school students and younger and one for junior high school students and older, with an entry fee of 500 yen. Who will be the winner this time?

Experiencing paper balloon raising in Kamihikiuchi! This is a winter-only event in which mini paper balloons filled with wishes are raised simultaneously into the star-filled sky.
