The zoo covers an area of 15 hectares, and many animals such as lions, Amur tigers, Asian elephants, giraffes, zebras, orangutans, flamingos, zebras, ponies, and wombats live in the spacious grounds.



Wombats are herbivores living in southeastern Australia and Tasmania, and their name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "flat nose. Currently, there are only two places in Japan where wombats can be seen, including Chausuyama Zoo. (As of June 1, 2021).

Chausu-zan Zoo strives to protect rare animals, and is especially famous as the largest breeding ground for red pandas in Japan. Since then, more than 30 births have taken place, resulting in more than 60 cubs.
The "Lesser Panda Forest" includes a large tree, a wooden tunnel, and a pond, where you will surely see them playing energetically and looking adorable in a way that can only be seen here!
