Eat the local food! Feel it! What kind of inn offers an open-air bath with a view of the castle town?

Aizu Wakamatsu in Fukushima Prefecture is famous for "akabeko," a folk craft that has been loved since ancient times as a means of family safety, good health, and to ward off disease. To get to Aizu-Wakamatsu Station, take the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo Station to Koriyama Station, and transfer to the Ban-Etsu-Nishi Line, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The train window trip with magnificent mountains and countryside scenery will give us a relaxing time.

Higashiyama Onsen is one of the famous hot spring resorts in Aizu Wakamatsu City. About 15 minutes by shuttle bus from Aizu Wakamatsu Station, "Oyado Toho" is located halfway up the mountain and is famous for its accommodations where you can view the castle town of Aizu Wakamatsu from the open-air bath with a view. Let us introduce you to "Oyado Toho," a wedding hall, a large banquet hall, and a favorite among the locals!

Recommended point (1) Eat local food! Buffet dinner with a variety of local dishes

Inside the dining hall
The "Agarancho" is located on the second floor of the hotel! This is the dinner buffet hall. Centered around an open kitchen set up in the center of the venue, the space is designed so that guests can easily move back and forth between their seats and the cooking area, and is large enough to accommodate about 200 people. Another of Agarancho's attractions is the 15-meter-wide panoramic window seating, which offers a view of the castle town, allowing diners to enjoy their meal while enjoying the view of the Aizu cityscape. The venue's interior decorations are said to incorporate Aizu lacquerware and Aizu cotton as interior motifs.

Staff recommendation! 3 must-eats!

Horse meat stew simmered for 3 days!

Stewed horse meat

Aizu's specialty, horse sinew stewed for three days until tender and concentrated flavor. The sweet and spicy flavor goes well with rice, and it is also delicious as a bowl of rice topped with horse sinew. We hope you will enjoy this unique delicacy only available at the hotel.

The flavor is concentrated! Foothills Pork Stew

Foothill Highland Pork Pork Stew

Foothill Highland pork is raised by designated farmers in the prefecture to ensure safety and health, and to bring out the "flavor" of the pork. The pork is slowly stewed to enhance the flavor of the vegetables and pork. The stew is one of the most popular menu items, with a concentrated flavor that goes well with alcoholic beverages.

White cheesecake? Aizu Komagatake

Aizu Komagatake

Aizu Komagatake," a popular sweet, is a hospitality that makes you feel like you are in Aizu. The white cheese cream, which represents the pure white snow-covered Mt. Komagatake, is filled with apple compote. It was inspired by a French pastry called crème d'Anjou.

Recommendation 2: Feel the local flavor! Open-air bath with a view of the castle town

The way to the large bath
Hot water of space (Sora)
There are two types of open-air baths with a view, "Sora no Yu" and "Tanagumo no Yu. The large bath is located on the third floor of the west side of the tower building, on a hill about 300 meters above sea level, with a frontal view of the Aizu mountains stretching from the Aizu Basin to Echigo in the distance. The location from which to view the sunset from the open-air baths is one of the most beautiful places in Aizu Wakamatsu. The view of the city of Aizuwakamatsu during the day and the star-filled sky at night will surely keep you coming back to the hot spring again and again!

On the way to the main baths, there is an exciting corridor with an image of the phases of the moon. The decorations here are said to be created by the inn's staff and change with the seasons. Accommodations that change with each trip you visit will make you want to come back again.

The castle town of Aizu can be seen from the large windows! Saikatsu in a liberating location!

Sauna room

When looking for a place to stay, some people may choose a hotel based on whether it has a sauna or not. The sauna at "Oyado Toho" features a large window overlooking the castle town of Aizu, giving it a liberating location. You will be able to get in shape more comfortably than usual.

Recommendation point 3: Immerse yourself in the local area! Souvenir shop full of red beko (reddish baby beko)

Souvenir shop with a variety of red bekko
Aizu Wakamatsu's folk art is "akabeko. There was a boom in akabeko, and there was a time when it was hard to find them. Here is a souvenir shop that solves that problem! The inside of the shop is all about akabeko. From figurines to key chains, a wide variety of akabeko goods are available.
Souvenirs of "kakigarikoboshi" (getting up and down)

In addition to akabeko, you can also purchase akagarikoboshi, a well-known local toy of Fukushima Aizu. These are available in both large and small sizes. Please look for your Aizu souvenirs here.

How was everyone's stay? We are sure that you will want to stay at this very nice inn. Heal yourself in the open-air bath with a view, and save your energy by eating local food at Agarancho! And of course, it looks great on SNS! Of course, it looks great on a social networking site!
