The Sogawa area is lined with a variety of stores! If you are staying at a hotel and want to go out for dinner in town, I would like to recommend local Izakaya to you! If you are staying at a hotel and want to go out for dinner in town, I would like to recommend a local izakaya (Japanese style bar).

Izakaya Nidaime Maruichi

We are open. That means.
The sign in front of the store says "Yatteiruyo" ("I'm doing it!"). The warm dialect is very heartwarming. It was a Saturday evening, so the place was busy, but thanks to a phone call in advance, we were able to get in just in time. (There were a few people who came without reservations who gave up, so it might be better to call in advance.)

When you come to Toyama, you have to eat seafood! First of all, we checked the sashimi menu. There was bai clam sashimi, so I ordered it. Bai clams are often eaten boiled, but in Hokuriku, it is also common to eat them as sashimi or sushi! The crunchy texture is irresistible.

The menu was quite extensive and included not only the standard izakaya menu, but also dishes with a local flavor, such as oden with crab mask, otsukuri with white shrimp, and Himi udon noodles. The daikon oden was topped with grated kelp! As one would expect from Toyama Prefecture, which is Japan's largest consumer of kelp!
There was also a service that allowed customers to order dishes from other restaurants while at Maruichi. Even if you are having trouble deciding which restaurant to go to, this service is a great way to try a variety of food.
For sake, we ordered "Masuizumi" from the Masuda Sake Brewery in Toyama. It has a refreshing taste that I never get tired of drinking. It's the perfect sake for a nightcap. Many tourists misread the kanji in the name as "Manjusen" because of the kanji in the name.

The staff was friendly and kind, and we had a pleasant dining experience. The Hokuriku editorial staff found another restaurant we would like to revisit!
Pork feet, a "hit" with many places to eat.
Agedashi Tofu.
