The appearance is reminiscent of an old medieval European castle.
Hello everyone, this is the Hokkaido Communications Department. Hokkaido, which used to be hot, has cooled down and it looks like winter is coming at a high speed. Today, I would like to introduce to you [Ikeda Wine Castle] located in Ikeda-cho, on the east side of Hokkaido. Its official name is "Ikeda Town Grape and Grape Wine Research Institute. Ikeda Wine Castle is a castle-like building that stands out even from the inside of the limited express train "Limited Express Oozora" that runs between Sapporo and Kushiro. Let's go inside.

The vast land around Ikeda Wine Castle is filled with grapevines!
Vines of "Yamayuki" and "Seimai" grapes, which are unique to Ikeda Town in Hokkaido, are planted in the "grape display garden" on the right side facing the front entrance of the wine castle. The grapes are harvested in the fall, and the result is "Tokachi Wine. Tokachi Wine" is very famous. The Ikeda Wine Castle, which resembles an old medieval European castle, has a corner where visitors can see exhibits related to Tokachi wine and experience guided tours (free or charged), giving the impression of visiting a wine museum.

Tokachi Wine also produces authentic sparkling wine and brandy.

We recommend the red wine "Yamayuki", the brandy "Genshu", and the sparkling wine "Bloom White".
Ikeda Town's own "Yamayuki" variety was registered as a variety with the OIV (International Organization of Grape and Wine) in 2020. Brandy "Genshu" with 59% alcohol content and "Bloom White" made by the secondary fermentation method in the bottle are products made with the experience and technology of "Tokachi Wine".

The inside of Ikeda Wine Castle is open for tours.

The staff will explain about "Tokachi wine" to you.
The brandy distillation room is on the first floor.
Free mini winery tours are offered twice a day on weekdays. Each tour is limited to 10 people. In addition, there are also winery tours available only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays for a fee. For details on how to participate, please visit the official website of "Ikeda Wine Castle".

How about a meal to go with Tokachi wine at the restaurant on the 4th floor of the Wine Castle?

You can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Tokachi Plain and Ikeda Town.
How about a "Tokachi beef" steak to accompany your wine?
How about "Yamayuki grape sherbet" for dessert after dinner?
On the 4th floor of Ikeda Wine Castle, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal Tokachi foods and Tokachi wines. Please enjoy "Tokachi wine" and the delicious tastes of Tokachi in a relaxing atmosphere. For those who cannot drink Tokachi wine because they are visiting by car or for children, "Yamasachi Juice" made from the juice of "Yamasachi" and "Yamasachi Grape Sherbet" are also available. The food counter on the 4th floor of Ikeda Wine Castle has an "observation terrace" overlooking the wine town of Ikeda, so please enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime view. The Ikeda Wine Castle is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed during the year-end and New Year's holidays. Admission is free, but tastings are offered for a fee and paid winery tours are also available, so please check the official website of "Ikeda Wine Castle" for more details.
