At the Funabashi venue of the Fureai Festival, in addition to the standard performances of mikoshi, yosakoi, and taiko drums, you can enjoy the Bakamen Odori dance, in which people wear "bakamen" masks, a local art of Funabashi City! The origin of baka-men dates back to the Meiji era (1868-1912), when fishermen performed the baka-men dance to pray for good luck and to drive away evil spirits. It is a very exciting parade with funny-looking masks and dancing to the music that makes you chuckle♪.
