A spectacular spot close to the city center! Visit Shosenkyo Gorge in the autumn foliage
Shosenkyo is also known as "the most beautiful valley in Japan," and in 2020 it will be recognized as a Japanese Heritage site, making it a popular tourist attraction. The gorge is famous for its granite cliffs, oddly shaped rocks and stones carved out over a long period of time, and abundant clear water, and is also famous for its crystal production. A well-maintained walking trail along the canyon allows visitors to enjoy up-close views of the richly varied scenery of the four seasons.
Why don't you go out to see the long-lasting autumn leaves?
Because of the difference in elevation, the time when the leaves begin to change color shifts little by little, so visitors can enjoy the autumn foliage for about a month. The autumn leaves changing color in the steep canyon is a sight not to be missed!
The most impressive sight is Kakuenbong (peak), with its steep cliffs. It is said that this peak was named after the monk Kakuen, who practiced asceticism on this rocky peak in the olden days. The contrast between the surrounding brightly colored autumn leaves and the steep rock face is spectacular! To take beautiful pictures, we recommend photographing from Yume no Matsushima, a spot located halfway along the promenade.
The view from the ropeway, which connects Senma Falls to Rohanji Mountain in 5 minutes each way, is also spectacular, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of Mount Fuji, the Southern Alps, and the Kofu Basin in the colors of autumn leaves.
Please visit Shosenkyo this fall to enjoy the autumn leaves and the spectacular view!
