The first time in four years! Tsugawa Kitsune no Yomeiri Gyoretsu 2023 [Aga-machi, Niigata Prefecture
- Niigata
- Sightseeing

Tsugawa Kitsune no Yomeiri Gyoretsu will be held on October 8!
Couples selected from the public will play the roles of bride and groom.
The bride, dressed in white kimono and fox make-up, parades through the streets from dusk to night, accompanied by her attendants.
In the town, lights are turned off and torches and lanterns are used to create a fantastic atmosphere.
The Fox Bride and Groom Procession is a dream picture scroll!
The foxfires in Tsugawa are the best in the world, and there are many stories of foxfires associated with Kirinzan.
In the old days, the marriage ceremony was held at night, when the area was dark and people paraded around with lanterns hung in the streets.
It is said that the light of the lanterns and the fox fire were seen in parallel, giving birth to the Kitsune-no-Yomeiri Gyoretsu.
The "fox bride procession" is a fantasy world. However, it has been handed down from parents to children and from children to grandchildren, and it was believed that the year in which many foxfires were visible (the year in which the Fox Bride Procession was visible) would bring good harvest and good fortune.
