Located at the Kenrokuen Exit of Kanazawa Station, the Kudomon Gate is the symbol of Kanazawa.
The 13.7-meter-high gate is designed in the image of a drum used in Noh plays and is quite powerful. At the same time, it is a spot where visitors can feel the glittering image of "Kaga Hyakumangoku" and the traditions and culture that have long lived on since the days of the Kaga domain.

The Kakumon is a must-see spot not only during the daytime, but also at night! The gate is illuminated from sunset to midnight. The shadows of the wooden structure are clearly reflected in the light, and the view is even more powerful than during the day.
Also, did you know that there are times of the day when the Koumon Gate is illuminated in colorful lights? During the illumination period, the gate is lit up for two minutes every 00 minutes in the image of Kaga Gosai (five colors of Kaga).

What is Kaga Gosai?

These are the five colors that form the basis of Kaga Yuzen. The five colors are enji, indigo, grass, ochre, and ancient purple, and are traditional Kanazawa colors characterized by their deep hues.
The colors are different for each day of the week. (Mon: Enji, Tue: Indigo, Wed: Grass, Thu: Ochre, Fri: Ancient Purple)
And on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, each of the five colors is colored for two minutes! Only on holidays can you enjoy the Kudamon Gate, which changes colors one after another.
