Entrance to Hirayu Hot Spring Hirayu-no-mori
Hirayu Bus Terminal is where buses run to Takayama City, Kamikochi, and the Shin Hotaka Ropeway. Hirayu-no-mori" is located about a 3-minute walk from there and is known as the largest one-day bathing facility in Hirayu Onsen. There is a footbath under the landmark "Forest Lighthouse" at the entrance! As one would expect from the abundance of hot spring water in Okuhida Onsen!
Hirayu-no-mori, open-air bath
The most popular attraction is the open-air bath! The open-air baths are filled with high-quality, free-flowing hot spring water! There are a total of 16 baths, 7 for men and 9 for women. The hot spring water is poured into 16 baths, 7 men's baths and 9 women's baths, and the temperature of the spring water is high, so cold valley water is added to maintain the proper temperature. Each bath has a different color and temperature, so you can enjoy visiting the baths with the scenery that changes with the seasons.
Hirayu-no-mori, indoor bath
The spacious indoor baths have a therapeutic bathhouse atmosphere and a retro feel. Visitors can enjoy a different atmosphere from that of the open-air baths. After taking a bath, you can take a rest in the rest area, which is an old Gassho style house that has been reconstructed, or enjoy Hida beef or local cuisine such as Hoba miso (bean paste) at the restaurant. Of course, there is also a souvenir shop. We hope you will stop by when you stay in Okuhida Onsenkyo or visit Takayama and Kamikochi.
