At "kashichi," a new brand of "kamaguya," a long-established Japanese confectionary store loved in Kawagoe for a long time, visitors can experience authentic Japanese confectionary making.

Founded in 1783, "KAGAMIYA" is a long-established Japanese confectionery that has been loved in Kawagoe for 240 years. Typical sweets are turtle-shaped monaka, which is in the shape of a turtle's shell; kogane imo, which looks like a cute sweet potato; and kame dora, which is hand-baked one by one by craftsmen. Various "Kameya" products are on display. There are 11 stores mainly in Saitama Prefecture, so they are recommended as souvenirs for sightseeing in Kawagoe.

Kashichi" located in a warehouse-styled townscape

Located in the "Kura-zukuri rows of houses" where many stores stand in Koedo-Kawagoe, "kashichi" is a wooden building with a calm Japanese-style atmosphere. The veteran wagashi craftsmen at Kagaya will teach you how to make these sweets in a gentle and easy-to-understand manner. The types of kamigashi you will make vary depending on the season, but you can enjoy just looking at the gentle, natural colors of the sweets, such as those that resemble the flowers of the season.

Prepared for you are multiple colors of seasonal red bean paste. This bean paste is combined in various ways to create a single kneaded dough.
