11:15 a.m. Arrive at Shimokita Station! We will have Ominato Kaiji Curry at the "Ekimae Shokudo" (station restaurant)!

Right in front of Shimokita Station on the JR Ominato Line, the "Ekimae Shokudo" offers a variety of dishes such as Chinese noodles and rice bowls, but what you cannot miss is the Ominato Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry.
It is customary for members of the Maritime Self-Defense Force to eat curry rice every Friday so as not to lose track of the days of the week.
The Ominato Kaiji Curry is a recipe for the curry served on the ships and other units belonging to the JMSDF's Ominato Base that is handed down to each restaurant directly from the units, so you can enjoy the exact same taste as what the members of the JMSDF are tasting.
Escort vessel Chikuma Curry is limited to 20 servings per day.
Wave set with reduced volume
The curry we had this time was the "Escort Ship Chikuma Curry," which was handed down from the destroyer Chikuma. The beef is soaked in olive oil overnight, and the roux is spiced with strawberry jam and apple juice, making it easy to eat!
The gentle flavor makes it suitable for those who don't like spicy food, but for those who want more of a punch, seasonings are available to increase the spiciness. You can also add seasonings along the way to enjoy both sweet and spicy hot flavors. The curry is delicious, but the stir-fried pork belly with sweet and spicy sauce is also excellent! The tender meat soaks up the sauce and the rice goes well with it.

We also ordered the "Ominato Sora Sora! (is a fried dish served at the Air Self-Defense Force's 42nd Air Defense Force Base located in Mutsu City. It is deep-fried twice, with Aomori apples and garlic dipped in soy sauce-based sauce, so it is crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. You can also take it home.
If you are not sure if you can eat the large amount of the convoy Chikuma Curry, which includes stir-fried pork belly with sweet and spicy sauce, we recommend the "Wave Set. WAVE is an abbreviation for female members of the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Wave Set has a portion that is easy for even women to eat, but anyone can order it.

Jirihama beach lined with distinctive rocks
We took a bus from Shimokita Station and got off at Akagawa, a little before Kazamaura Village, where we will be staying. We arrived at Chijihama, one of the Shimokita Geopark areas.
The Shimokita Geopark is a place where visitors can learn about the three oceans that surround the Shimokita Peninsula (Pacific Ocean, Tsugaru Straits, and Mutsu Bay) and the four different types of rocks that form the Shimokita region, and learn about the unique nature and culture of each region and its connection to human activities.
At Chijiri Beach, there are many intricately shaped rocks that have been carved by the waves, and they are very powerful to see in person.
There are many interestingly shaped rocks, so be sure to look for a spot with a photo-worthy shape.

15:30 Oma Railway Arch Bridge Memorial Road is a place full of emo

Arch Bridge of Ohma Railroad: You can walk proudly on the railway track on the Memorial Road.
If you come to Kazamaura Village, you should definitely stop by the "Oma Railway Arch Bridge Memorial Road.
Normally, it is not possible to walk on the railway tracks, but you can do it with dignity on this Memorial Road!
The "Oma Railway Arch Bridge Memorial Road" was built during World War II, but construction was halted and the bridge has been restored as a promenade. It is located on top of a large arch bridge, on a hill with a great view, and has footbaths so that visitors can relax and enjoy the scenery while warming up during the cold season. Hokkaido can be seen in the distance, reminding us once again how close Aomori Prefecture and Hokkaido are.

16:00 Enjoy seafood and hot springs at Hotel New Shimoburo

Dinner with plenty of seafood (example)
Beautiful sunset from the veranda
Stay at the Hotel New Shimoburo. All rooms are made of hiba (cypress), and the ocean is right in front of the hotel, so you can enjoy the beautiful sunset while feeling the sea breeze. For dinner, we were treated to a full meal of seafood, including scallops, abalone, sea urchins, and anglerfish, a specialty of Kazamaura Village. All of the seafood was so fresh and fresh that you could tell it had been cooked to perfection, and the flavors and textures were so delicious that you couldn't help but swoon! It is hard to find a dinner where you can fully enjoy such a variety of seafood all at once, isn't it?
Wear a colored yukata (light cotton kimono) and stroll around the museum with a sense of harmony
The hot springs have a distinctive smell and a milky white color, and are made of sulfur and hydrogen sulfide spring water containing salt. The sensation of being slowly heated is so pleasant that you can't help but take your time while bathing in the hot springs. After enjoying the hot spring, you can relax in a colored yukata, which is available only for women. There are many types of yukata available, so everyone can enjoy choosing the color combination with the color of the obi (sash).

Tuna fishing at the monument in Oma-zaki! The photo has been processed to convey the image.
The second day starts with a bus ride from Shimoburo Onsen to Oma-zaki, the northernmost point of Honshu.
Oma is famous for its tuna! There is a monument as the town of single tuna fishing, so I snapped this photo as if I were having a single tuna fight right now.
And if you have come all the way here, you should get a "Certificate of Arrival at Oma Zaki, the northernmost point of Honshu". It is an original product of the Oma Town Tourist Association and is sold for 200 yen at the Oma Kanko Dosan Center, Domon Shoten, and Hamanoya Shoten.

If you come to Oma-zaki, you will want to try the actual tuna. This time, we will introduce you to Kamome Restaurant, which is open from early in the morning. You can enjoy a bowl of rice topped with seafood, mainly tuna.
You can choose from a dreamy three-color bowl of rice topped with tuna, salmon roe, and sea urchin, or if you just want to eat tuna, try the tuna donburi (rice topped with tuna). If you want to eat tuna, we recommend the tuna donburi (ootoro, chutoro, and akami). There is also a mini-donburi that is easy for women and small children to eat. All of the items are large, so they are very satisfying!
Akamimi is delicious with rice because you can really taste the flavor of the tuna, and the otoro is so melt-in-your-mouth that it is a shame to finish it. The sea urchin has no smell and you can directly feel its creaminess, so no matter which bowl you choose, it is delicious!
*Please note that the sea urchin is usually served until mid-August.

Tenryu Rock can be seen in the back.
The clear and beautiful color of the sea.

Wakinosawa Port, the departure point of the ferry
From Butsugaura, head south to Wakinosawa. From here, take the Mutsu Bay Ferry across Mutsu Bay to the port of Kanita on the Tsugaru Peninsula, a trip of about 60 minutes. It is an experience unique to the topography of this part of Aomori Prefecture.
Moreover, from late April to June, this route is also a place where you may encounter a school of wild dolphins. Unfortunately, we were unable to see them at the time of the interview, but it is possible to see them jumping on the surface of the sea.

On the ferry, we spent a pleasant time in the sea breeze watching the Tsugaru Peninsula getting bigger and the Shimokita Peninsula getting smaller, and talking about "Where is that place? and "Where is that one? Especially, "Taijima" near Wakinosawa Port is very unique with a lighthouse standing on the top of the island shaped like a sea bream or a whale. Please look for it. If the wind picks up, you can relax in a chair on the ship and get a commemorative stamp.

16:50 Dinner at Well Crab when you arrive at KANITA

Yakiboshi Ramen
Since this is the end of a two-day and one-night trip, how about some ramen to finish it off? Well Crab, located just a short walk from JR Kanita Station, sells fresh seafood, and you can try their famous ramen at the Well Crab Restaurant.
You can taste "Shamorock Ramen," which uses Aomori Prefecture's locally raised "Shamorock" chicken to spread the flavor of chicken, and "Yakiboshi Ramen," in which yakiboshi is kneaded into the noodles to concentrate the flavor of fish.
