This time, we would like to introduce a famous restaurant in Aizuwakamatsu City, "Original Wabako-meshi Kappo Takino". The restaurant was founded in 1968. After encountering "kenkenge-wappa," a specialty of Hinoemata Village in Fukushima Prefecture, which boasts 600 years of tradition, the previous generation wanted to offer customers "wabako-meshi," a dish that makes use of Aizu ingredients, and opened the restaurant in 1970 under the trade name "Takino. When he first started serving wabako-meshi, it was difficult to gain the understanding of local people, but the dish gradually spread among tourists visiting Aizu and took root in Aizu Wakamatsu.
The restaurant, a spacious two-story structure, is a reconstruction of the Itozawa Jinya (camp) built approximately 250 years ago in Aizu Tajima-cho (now Minami Aizu-cho). The restaurant is a spacious two-story structure with a stately atmosphere with large irori-ori-style staircases and thick beams, which were used during the Boshin War (1868-1868) and still bear the scars of the Boshin War (1868-1911).
