Recommendation for the second restaurant on your trip to Toyama.

Sogawa" is a downtown area in Toyama, close to Toyama Station and lined with restaurants. The sake bar "UZUMAKI" on Sogawa Street is a hidden gem that is visited not only by tourists but also by local regulars. In addition to Toyama sake, there is a full lineup of sake from all over Japan that the owner stocks. There is no sake menu, but if you order by feel, such as "clear" or "fresh," the owner will select the perfect brand for you.
The appetizer of the day was cucumbers and tomatoes pickled in sakekasu.

Fresh.

Let's start with the first drink. I ordered a fresh one! I ordered. The sake I chose was "Nito," from Aichi Prefecture's Maruishi Brewery, which is based on the concept that "only those who chase two hares will catch them both.
The sake is made so that the two seemingly contradictory elements of "taste and aroma," "acid and umami," "heavy and light," "sweet and spicy," "entry and finish," and "complex and clean" can be balanced and tasted to their best advantage. Fruity, fresh, and easy to drink! We were able to choose exactly the sake we ordered!

Then the second drink!

At first, I was at a loss as to what to order when I was told that there was no menu, but my fears were put to rest when I was offered such a qualified drink in the first glass. I was a little confused, but my worries were put to rest when I was offered such an appropriate drink with the first glass. What was to come out?

Feels summery.

The first summery sake was from the Machida Sake Brewery in Gunma Prefecture. It was a summery sake from Machida Sake Brewery in Gunma Prefecture, called "Omachi Natsu Jun Usu Nigori. It contains fine gas and is slightly carbonated. It was a nigori sake that reminded me of a refreshing summer. Delicious!

Only sake with a menu.

UZUMAKI does not have a sake menu, and a glass of sake costs from 700 yen to 800 yen at the most. However, there was one sake that was on the menu.
2000 yen per glass. The "IWA" in "IWA5" comes from the name of the brewery, Tateyama Shiraiwa, where the brewery is located. We decided to try it since we were in the mood.
I imagined it would be heavy because of its strong aroma, but it was easy to drink. I thought it would go well with food, so I ordered some snacks! So I ordered some snacks.
Exclusive IWA glass

Full food menu.

The owner's wife is in charge of cooking at UZUMAKI. We ordered cream cheese marinated in miso, fried pork, and sauteed chicken thigh with yuzu kosho sauce! All were delicious and the restaurant is OK as a "first stop" as they also had pizza and other robust dishes.

The fourth drink is a "heavy" order!

As we enjoyed the changing flavors and dishes at IWA, we found ourselves in the mood for heavier drinks. I ordered a heavier sake, and what appeared was "Asakayousei" dry sake from Hirai Shoten in Shiga Prefecture. It was a sake with a clean taste that went well with the meal. Delicious!

And finally, some Toyama sake...

The fifth and final sake ordered was "Toyama Sake". I was excitedly waiting to see what would be served! I was excitedly waiting for it.
Katsuma" from the Seito Sake Brewery in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, made its appearance! It is a rare sake with very few sales. It is a sake that I also love, but I have not been able to find it in the past two years, so I was very happy to see it. Katsuma has a fruity sweetness and a crisp acidity.

Please visit us when you come to Toyama!

How was it? Sake Bar UZUMAKI is a sake bar where you can enjoy the marriage of delicious food and sake, and since they also serve non-Japanese sake and soft drinks, even those who are not accustomed to drinking sake can easily come in.
