Akita Komagatake, the highest mountain in Akita Prefecture (1,637 meters), opened on June 1!
Located on the border between Senboku City, Akita Prefecture, and Iwate Prefecture, the mountain is an unexplored area with spectacular views, also known as "Moomin Valley," but the course is safe for beginner climbers as the elevation difference is small and there are no difficult spots. It is also popular as a mountain famous for its flowers, with a variety of flowers blooming from early summer to summer.
The best time to climb the mountain is from June 1 to late October. The flower fields from early summer to summer are also attractive, but in autumn, the mountain is colored with autumn leaves. It is a scenery you will want to visit in both seasons.

To get there, take a bus from JR Tazawako Station to the Komagatake Hachigome trailhead. It takes about one and a half hours to reach the summit!
In order to relieve congestion and protect the natural environment, the entry of private cars and other vehicles is partially restricted between the Komagatake trailhead and the Komagatake Hachigome. On the restricted days, cars cannot enter the area, so please park at Alpa Komakusa and use the bus. For details, please refer to the Lake Tazawa-Kakunodate Tourist Association website below.
