Using JR to participate in Tsugaru Kaisen!
Hokkaido and Aomori face each other across the Tsugaru Straits. The two regions, connected by the Shinkansen bullet train, are home to a wealth of high-quality seafood nurtured by the Tsugaru Straits.
JR Hokkaido and East Japan Railway will conduct a campaign called "Tsugaru Kaisen" twice, once in the summer of 2022 and once in the winter of 2022. The campaign was launched in Hokkaido and Aomori to appeal to customers for the "deliciousness" of their respective seafood specialties!
This is the third round of the "Kaisen" campaign! The "Tsugaru Kaisen - 2023 Spring Battle" has begun.

Hakodate Seafood Cuisine Izakaya Kaikobo (3-minute walk from JR Hakodate Station)
The restaurant is popular among the locals for its fresh, live fish. Inside the restaurant there is a large fish tank filled with seafood landed that day, and from around March until around the beginning of the New Year, you can enjoy the fatty* "hokke sashimi". The "Rausu Nekke Hockey Grill" is also a popular dish. Please note that this may not be available due to availability.
Hama Cuisine and Sake Banquet Satoya (15 min. walk from JR Aomori Sta.)
This izakaya has the atmosphere of a hideout, but is also frequented by locals, making it a favorite of connoisseurs. The fresh seafood served here includes sashimi, grilled fish, delicacies, and a wide variety of other dishes. Around April, when the cherry blossom viewing season is approaching, you can taste male spiny dog crab, and from early summer around June, you can taste the female with cubs whose internal organs and rich crab miso are delicious. *Please inquire in advance about the availability of spiny dog crab.
