Have you ever heard of the day lily?

It is a very rare plant that only grows in clusters in Yamagata, Miyagi, Fukushima, and Niigata prefectures! Oe-cho has been trying to restore the lily gardens in the area where they used to grow wild! The town of Oe began planting bulbs in 1998, and today, about 60,000 day lilies bloom in colonies along the promenade and beside the cottages in the Daisen Nature Park.
Very pretty daylily
However, it is listed as a purely endangered species on the Red List of the Ministry of the Environment...
This year, the "Daisen Nature Park Lily Festival" is scheduled to be held from May 24 (Wed.) to June 2 (Fri.). During the festival, a lottery will be held for those who donate for the preservation of day lilies at the tourist information center (for details, please refer to the Oe Town website below). The pink daylilies look beautiful against the fresh greenery. Please come and see them!
