Take the Toyama Local Railway to Tateyama Station

Dentetsu Toyama Station on the Toyama Local Railway (Toyama Chiho Railway) is very accessible, located about a 2-minute walk from the South Exit of Toyama Station near the Hokuriku Shinkansen ticket gates. Using the Tateyama Line from Dentetsu Toyama Station, you can reach Tateyama Station in about one hour for a regular train. As you go up the stairs of Tateyama Station, you will see the ticket gate for the Tateyama Cable Car. If you take the Tateyama Kogen Bus from Bijyodaira, it takes about 2 hours from Toyama Station to Tateyama Murodo, which is 2,450 meters above sea level.

The Tateyama Tunnel connects Tateyama Murodo, the sightseeing base of the Alpine Route, to Daikanbo. Until now, trolleybuses have been running in this section of the tunnel, but from April 15, 2025, environment- and people-friendly "Tateyama Tunnel Electric Buses" are scheduled to operate. All of the eight electric buses running through the Tateyama Tunnel will have different wrapping designs, so please enjoy your trip along the Alpine Route with excitement to see which bus you will be riding!
