Yamagata Station

Kajo Park

Kasumigajo Park is a castle ruins park in Yamagata City, designated as a national historic site and known as one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Yamagata Prefecture. Trains pass by the park, but during the cherry blossom season, they run at a slower speed for cherry blossom viewing. If you are lucky, you can capture a photo of the train running through the rows of cherry trees in full bloom.

Mamigasaki Sakura Line

The Umamigasaki River, famous for hosting the Imojikai Festival, is lined with approximately 200 cherry trees and is called the "Umamigasaki Sakura Line. Both sides of the road are lined with cherry trees, and when they are in full bloom, a tunnel of cherry blossoms is formed! There are benches and embankments on the opposite bank of the river, so it is recommended to leisurely view the entire Sakura Line from afar! At night, some of the cherry blossoms are lit up, so you can enjoy a different and more beautiful sight than in the daytime.

JR Kaminoyama Onsen Staiton

Tsukioka Park

Tsukioka Park is one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in the city, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms around Kaminoyama Castle, known as the "famous castle of Hashu. Kaminoyama Castle Ashiyu (footbath) is also located nearby, and we recommend that you relax and soak in the footbath while viewing the cherry blossoms.

Tendo Park (Maizuruyama)_Tendo Park (Maizuruyama)

Eboshiyama Park_Eboshiyama Park

Eboshiyama Park, selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan, is known for its clusters of Edohigan cherry trees, which are rare in the world, and boasts approximately 1,000 cherry trees of 25 varieties in bloom. The Eboshiyama Hachimangu Shrine, located in Eboshiyama Park, has a large stone torii gate. This torii gate is the largest seamless stone gate in Japan and is known as a valuable cultural asset. The view of the majestic stone torii gate and pretty cherry blossoms is breathtaking.

JR Takahata Staiton

Mahoroba no Ryokudo

The 10-km-long "Mahoroba Greenway" stretching from JR Takahata Station to Lake Hirusawa is a greenway developed on the site of the former Yamagata Kotsu Takahata Line, a railroad that was discontinued in 1974. In spring, approximately 700 cherry trees bloom along the Mahoroba greenway, making it an ideal place for cycling and strolling. Cycling while viewing the cherry blossoms in full bloom and the Iide mountain range with snow still on the ground is an exhilarating experience!

JR Yonezawa Staiton

Matsugamine Park

About 200 cherry trees are in full bloom along the moat, and a cherry blossom view with the bridge over the moat (Hishimon Bridge) is recommended. Uesugi Shrine in Matsugamisaki Park was built on the ruins of Yonezawa Castle and is dedicated to Kenshin Uesugi.

JR Shinjo Station

Mogami Park (Shinjo castle ruins)_Mogami Park

Around 300 cherry trees are in full bloom in the surrounding area, and the cherry blossoms are illuminated at night. The Shinjo Kadoyaki Festival, a springtime tradition in Shinjo, is usually held from April 29 to May 5 at a special venue in Mogami Park.

Hiyoriyama Park
