The building is not a castle but a local archive!
First of all, the cherry blossom spot in Nagaoka City that you cannot miss is "Yuukyuyama Park".

Nicknamed "Oyama" by Nagaoka citizens, Yuukyuyama Park is said to have started when "Makino Tadatatsu", the third lord of Nagaoka Domain who loved this area very much, planted and nurtured pine trees and cherry trees from Sado Island.

Please refer to this article for more information on Mt.

What a surprise! There is also a monkey mountain!
The monkeys in Monkey Mountain will be looking forward to the cherry blossoms every year.

In addition, there is a walking trail around Sensui Pond, where you can get in touch with plants, insects, wild birds, and other nature☆.
In Yuukyuyama Park, about 2,500 cherry trees, including Someiyoshino and Yaezakura, are planted, turning the park light pink!
You can also see rare varieties of cherry blossoms, such as the light yellowish-green color of the ukon (turmeric) blossoms!

◇When to see them◇
Around early April
Lanterns will be lit

From March 22 (Fri.) to April 14 (Sun.), 2024, lanterns will be lit to create a more magical cherry blossom viewing experience.
Lighting hours are from 17:30 to 20:30.

One of the attractions of the area along the Fukushima River is that it is close to Nagaoka Station, about a 3-minute walk from the station!

It is a recommended spot to enjoy the cherry blossoms in your spare time.

A row of about 100 Someiyoshino cherry trees runs from Atrium Nagaoka to near Tonomachi Inari Shrine.

As the surrounding area is residential, there are no parking lots or trash cans.

Please enjoy the cherry blossoms with good manners so as not to disturb the residents!

The red gate, which has withstood the wind and snow for hundreds of years, houses two of the four heavenly kings, and a wooden statue of one of the four principal deities is enshrined on the second floor.
After climbing more than 100 stone steps from the red gate, visitors will come to the wooden black gate with a thatched roof.
