Asamushi is, of course, famous for its hot springs! Asamushi Onsen is a traditional hot spring resort town, and is also known as the place where the world-famous printmaker Shiko Munakata and the great writer Osamu Dazai stayed. Asamushi Onsen is also recommended for its sightseeing, which can be done only on foot. The location of Asamushi Onsen is perfect, with the ocean right in front of it. In summer, after enjoying ocean activities such as SUP and sea kayaking, you can soak in the hot spring while looking out at the ocean...what a luxurious experience!

First, enjoy the hot spring at the footbath!

When you arrive at Asamushi Onsen Station, the first thing to do is to take a footbath! Footbaths in front of the station are a unique feature of hot spring resorts.

Footbaths in winter can get cold due to the cold temperatures, but the water in Asamushi Onsen's footbaths is warm and fluffy even in sub-zero temperatures, even when it snows. If you put all of your feet in at once, you will feel it is too hot. Take a rest and feel the atmosphere of a hot spring resort.
It's warm even in winter!

Fish, too! Dolphins too! Art, too! Enjoy Asamushi Aquarium!

After enjoying the footbath, go to Aomori Prefectural Asamushi Aquarium. From Asamushi Onsen Station, walk 10 minutes to the right to get there. The cute entrance is decorated with Asamushi Aquarium's character "Kokoru-chan" and many sea creatures. You can't help but stop to take a closer look.

Asamushi Aquarium also offers a "special seat experience" (for a fee) where you can watch a dolphin performance from the trainer's point of view, and a "tunnel tank" where you can feed the fish in the tunnel tank from the back yard, which is normally inaccessible. There are also special experiences such as the "Tunnel Tank Feeding Experience" (fee required, available only on weekends and holidays), where you can feed the fish in the tunnel tank from the backyard, which is normally inaccessible!

The schedule of each event is posted on the aquarium's official website, so it is recommended to check the schedule in advance to ensure an efficient tour.
The dolphin performance is a powerful one, set to a video of Nebuta, Aomori's typical dolphin festival.
We also recommend feeding the dolphins in the backyard, which is normally inaccessible.

Art at the Aquarium♪

The colorful and variously shaped sea creatures are like works of art. The unique shapes and colors of these creatures make you want to gaze at them forever. The art can be found in three locations: the entrance (outside), the Touch Corner (inside), and the Sea Animals Pavilion (inside), which I mentioned earlier. Please take a good look at the many cute sea creatures that are depicted.
