Ojiya City in Niigata Prefecture, known for its heavy snowfall, hosts an annual balloon festival in February called the "Balloon Revolt," which began in 1977 when a few balloonists decided to fly their balloons over a snowfield in search of flight. This event also serves as the "Sea of Japan Cup Cross Country Championships," Japan's leading hot air balloon competition. (In FY2023, the "Nihonkai Cup Cross Country Championships" will not be held due to the lack of an operational structure, and will be held only at the Hirasawa site.)

Don't miss the Globaloon Festival on Saturday, February 25, when the winter night sky will be decorated!

On February 25 at 6:00 p.m., a large hot air balloon will colorfully illuminate the pure white snow field!

In addition, the "Ojiya Snow Sculpture Contest" will be held at the same time from February 18 (Sat) to 26 (Sun), so please check the Ojiya City website for more details.

The event schedule for February 25 (Sat.) and 26 (Sun.) is as follows
