Higashi Chaya-gai, one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Kanazawa

Higashi Chaya-gai," lined with townhouses with red latticework, is one of Kanazawa's most popular sightseeing areas. The streets lined with machiya houses with a Japanese atmosphere are a great place to take pictures, and many female tourists enjoy strolling through the streets in rented kimonos. In the Higashi Chaya-gai, many sweet shops, from long-established establishments to new stores, sell ingenious sweets. Today, we would like to introduce a matcha parfait served inside "Kaikaro," the largest teahouse building in Kanazawa.

At "Kaikaro Cafe" located on the first floor of "Kaikaro", you can enjoy Japanese sweets such as Kuzukiri (kuzu-kiri) and a set of powdered green tea and rakugan (sweet bean curd). Among them, we recommend the matcha parfait that lavishly uses the highest-grade matcha from "Nodaya", a long-established store in Kanazawa. The gold leaf decorating the top of the parfait gives it a "Kanazawa-ness" to it.

Not only does it look great, but it tastes great as well! The green tea is rich enough as it is, but you can feel the delicious bitterness of the green tea even more when the green tea sauce is poured over the parfait.

After taking a rest, please visit the building!

Kaikanro" is open to the public during the daytime, although at night it is open to only one guest per house (i.e., only one guest per day). There is a menu that includes a sweet and a tour of the museum, so why not take a break and visit the largest teahouse building in Kanazawa?
