Toyama Black" is the soul food representing Toyama! Toyama Black Ramen

Everyone has heard of Toyama Black Ramen at least once, right? It is now one of Toyama Prefecture's representative gourmet foods. As the name suggests, Toyama Black is characterized by its black soup. Did you know that the birth of Toyama Black has a deeper and darker story than its appearance?

The secret behind the birth of Black Ramen is...

It is said that Toyama Black was first eaten in Toyama after the war in 1947. In the midst of postwar reconstruction, "Nishimachi Daiki," which is called the originator of Toyama Black, offered Chinese soba noodles for manual laborers as a "chewy" side dish with a strong seasoning and plenty of fried pork.

As the name "Toyama Black" suggests, the ramen has a shockingly black appearance, but once you try it, you will be hooked! I sometimes stop by for a bowl myself, and I always recommend ordering it with rice!
It has been more than 60 years since Toyama Black was first served, but it is still widely available not only in Toyama City but also throughout the prefecture, and "Toyama Black" is now one of Toyama's soul foods.

Why don't you try Toyama Black Ramen, which is loved in Toyama?
