A popular annual illumination event! Blue Cave SHIBUYA
The "Blue Cave SHIBUYA" started 11 years ago in 2014 as the "Nakameguro Blue Cave. The event was then moved to Shibuya in 2016. Since then, it has attracted visitors as a tradition of the Christmas season.
The "Blue Cave SHIBUYA" in 2019 was so popular that the number of visitors exceeded 1 million in the first three weeks of the event, and eventually over 3.2 million people visited the event.
This "Blue Cave" has been held outside of Shibuya in the past. Starting with "Blue Cave SAPPORO" in Hokkaido in February 2018, "Blue Cave OSAKA" in Kansai in September of the same year, "Blue Cave FUKUOKA" in Kyushu in September 2019, and "Blue Cave NAGOYA" in Aichi Prefecture in July 2022, "Blue Cave" has been held in various places in Japan. The Ao no Grotto has become an illumination event that is loved by people from all over Japan!
The "Blue Cave SHIBUYA" will be held again this year. What kind of event will it be?
Check out the highlights of this year's event!
The blue illumination starts from Shibuya Park Avenue, a 5-minute walk from the Hachiko exit of Shibuya Station, and at the main Yoyogi Park Zelkova tree-lined avenue, glossy mats are laid so that the light reflects off the road, making the entire area look like another world.
The giant spherical balloon that made a splash last year has been enhanced to the shape of a snowman this year and will appear at the Yoyogi Park Zelkova Namiki venue as "Blue Cave THE SNOWMAN"! A Christmas-inspired movie will be projected on the balloon, creating a fantastic atmosphere with blue lights and beautifully coloring the Christmas season.
