The Kuji Underground Water Science Museum Mogulanpia is an aquarium where you can observe black sea bream, crabs, starfish, and other marine organisms found off the coast of Sanriku and around Kuji through a tunnel tank. Depending on the time of the year and the time of day, visitors can watch demonstrations of ama (women divers) and nanbu moguri (southern sea turtles), which are rapidly gaining popularity on morning TV dramas. It is a good place to observe the unique marine ecology off the coast of Sanriku. Many exhibits and illustrations of the famous Sakana-kun are on display as a cheerleader for this aquarium, which was severely damaged by the tsunami at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake. If you like Sakana-kun, this place is a must-see!
