★Schedule★Day 2

A girl's trip in Kakunodate in winter! Model course

8:30 Breakfast homemade by mother

Breakfast at "Farm inn Midori-no-Kaze
Good morning, it's the second day.

When I woke up and went to the first floor, I found the owner's mother's homemade breakfast...!
The nameko mushrooms in the miso soup are from her home.
The mornings in Kakunodate in winter are cold, but the warm, gentle taste was good for my body and soul.

9:30 Check out

Last photo with the owner and his wife!
"Farm inn Midori-no-Kaze" was a very comfortable inn where the owner and her husband and cat welcomed us warmly.

From here, we will ride "Yobunoru Kakunodate" again to enjoy the girls' trip in Kakunodate! The theme of the second day is "Sweets Tour" in Kakunodate.

・・・Take "Yobunoru Kakunodate" = 3=3 Farm inn Green Wind → RÉGAL RITZ (about 15 minutes)

10:00 Enjoy freshly squeezed Mont Blanc at RÉGAL RITZ

Mont Blanc sweets specialty restaurant "RÉGAL RITZ
The first stop on the sweets tour was RÉGAL RITZ, a store specializing in Mont Blanc sweets, located in the "Yobuoru Kakunodate" operation area. Did you know that Kakunodate is the "home of chestnuts" with a history of over 300 years? At RÉGAL RITZ, the finest Mont Blanc sweets are made in the store's workshop. The store is a renovated 120-year-old "Koji-kura" (malt warehouse). It fits perfectly with the streetscape of Kakunodate, Michinoku's little Kyoto.

Underneath the freshly squeezed marron paste is a cream and pudding that go perfectly together...! The sweetness was not at all overpowering and I finished it in no time at all. There are benches outside the store, so you can eat your sweets there.

・・・・Travel on foot = 3=3 RÉGAL RITZ → Restaurant Fuga (about 5 minutes)

11:00 Fresh pasta lunch at Restaurant Fuga

Restaurant Fuga
Lunch on the second day was Italian!
Restaurant Fuga, located at the "Yobuoru Kakunodate" stop, serves homemade fresh pasta and handmade pizza.

The owner of the restaurant could not forget the fresh pasta pitch she tasted in Italy, and she has been experimenting with various pasta dishes! She has also trained in Milan and is particular about the authentic taste. The fresh pasta is flat and chewy! Even though it is an Italian restaurant, they also have ramen noodles. I had the fresh pasta this time, but I am very curious about the ramen noodles as well...!

It is about a 10-minute walk to the next "Petit Phrase," but it is cold, so we take the "Yobunoru Kakunodate" to move on! The "Yobuoru Kakunodate 2-Day Unlimited Ride Pass" is very convenient at a time like this♪

・・・Take the "Yobunoru Kakunodate" train = 3=3 Restaurant Fuga → Petit Phrase (approx. 3 min.)

13:30 Dessert at Cafe Petit Phrase

Petit Phrase
Dessert after lunch is another treat.
This is also the point to get on and off the "Yobuoru Kakunodate" train! At "Petit Phrase," a storehouse that blends in with the streets of Kakunodate, Michinoku's Little Kyoto, mont-blanc and glace using the largest chestnuts in Japan, "Saimyoji chestnuts," are popular. The chestnuts are so large that everyone is surprised at their size!

In addition to cakes and other items on the café menu, there is also a lunch menu that includes omelette rice using Hinai Jido-chicken eggs. The owner is particular about local ingredients and continues to make sweets with the motto of "gentle to the body" and "safe for children to eat" in mind. The store is also spacious, making it a cafe where you can spend a relaxing time.

・・・Take the "Yobunoru Kakunodate" train = 3=3 Petit Phrase → Sakaiya (approx. 5 min.)

15:00 Enjoy apple-filled taiyaki at Sakaiya!

Sakaiya
I visited "Sakaiya" when I visited Kakunodate on a work vacation in the summer. It is a boarding and alighting point for the "Yobunoru Kakunodate" train.

The parfait is very popular for its generous and reasonably priced, but I visited Sakaiya because I heard that they sell "apple taiyaki" in the winter!
The sweetness of the anko (red bean paste) and apples, and the crunchy texture of the pulp is irresistible...! It is good to eat it in the store, but you can also take it home and eat it on the bullet train on your way home.

...on foot = 3=3 Sakaiya → Karado-an (in front of Kakunodate Station) (approx. 3 min.)

16:00 Purchase souvenirs at "Karado-an"!

Karado-an
Finally, we will buy some souvenirs at "Karado-an (Kakunodate Ekimae Store)" near Kakunodate Station!

Morokoshi is a traditional Akita sweet with a history of more than 300 years, and is characterized by its soft and moist texture. Karado-an (Kakunodate Ekimae Store) sells various kinds of morokoshi, such as "Nama Morokoshi" (fresh morokoshi with the flavor of roasted azuki beans) and "Morokoshi Cookie Sakura Horohoro" with a slight aroma of cherry leaves, perfect for Kakunodate, which is famous for cherry blossoms. The morokoshi, with its mouth-watering azuki bean flavor, goes well with sencha green tea.

This time, I bought some "raw morokko" that I got for tasting as a souvenir.

... Walking = 3=3 Karado-an (in front of Kakunodate Station) → Kakunodate Station (about 1 minute)

16:30 Board the Shinkansen from Kakunodate Station.

The girls' trip to Kakunodate is over and we are returning to Tokyo on the Shinkansen.
It was a trip to eat, experience, and enjoy the winter in Kakunodate♪

By the way, it was a sunny day on this girls' trip, but this is what Kakunodate looks like when it snows!

Snow-covered street of samurai residences
Kimonos look good.
The Buke Yashiki Street is beautiful in spring with its cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, but it is also great in winter when it is covered with snow! The snow-covered weeping cherry blossoms and samurai residences are unique to Kakunodate.
For women and couples traveling together, it is recommended to walk around in a kimono☆The kimono will look great in the pure white snow, and you can take wonderful pictures♪ It is not easy to walk around in a kimono in the snow, so this is where "Yobunoru Kakunodate" comes in!
