The staff of JR East Travel Service Center Aomori has compiled an "Apple Map" of apple-related recommendations.
In this final installment, we introduce two confectionary stores and a historic shrine.

Apple Map No.4 Bonjour (SKIP EGG in A-FACTORY)

<SKIPEGG exterior
Bonjour, an apple pie and baked goods store with its main store in Hirosaki.
Bonjour's freshly baked apple pies can be enjoyed at the "Skip Egg" store in the A-Factory near Aomori Station.
<Apple pie in the store

Apple pies in individual packages lined up in the store. The large apples on top of the luxurious pie are shiny and look like jewels!

If your timing is right, you can purchase a freshly baked apple pie.

It is recommended to eat it as it is, as it will fall apart if eaten with a fork.

The crispy texture of the dough and the sweetness of the apples spread out in a delicious way.
It also goes great with coffee!

The popular apple pie is sometimes sold out in the afternoon.

Apple Map No. 9 Strauss

<Uppfelstrudel> <Uppfel Strudel> <Uppfel Strudel
Strauss" is a famous store that Aomori is proud of.
You can enjoy authentic western-style confections from Vienna, Austria.
This store is famous for "Sachertorte," a rich chocolate cake originating in Vienna.
Here you will find "Uppfelstrudel," an apple pie that originated in Austria.
This apple pie is characterized by its elegant taste, baked in a moist, thin dough and filled with Aomori apples "Fuji" and textured walnuts and raisins.

In addition, freshly baked "Uppfelstrudel" is available at the Shunjikan on the first floor of JR Shin-Aomori Station. Please try this one as well.

Strauss' is a take-out shop on the first floor and a coffee shop on the second floor.
The cafe in the classical and stylish European atmosphere is a blissful experience.

Apple Map No. 10 Hirota Shrine

<Apple red seal
Lastly, we would like to introduce some inedible apples.
Hirota Shrine is located about 15 minutes on foot from Aomori Station. It is the only shrine in Japan with a long history of protection against disease and misfortune. You will encounter many apples here.
Even red seals have apples on them! The red seal is given to you by the shrine as a proof of your visit, so please receive it after paying your visit with a quiet and grateful heart.
<Apple fortune

Lots of apples! Actually, this is an "apple fortune.
The fortune is harvested from the most delicious apple!
The omikuji is written in Tsugaru dialect, so read it while trying to guess the meaning♪

<Water fortune

Mizu-mikuji" is a type of omikuji where you float the omikuji on the water and the characters come to life!
Beautiful flowers of various colors float on the water, very cute♪
The type of flowers varies depending on the time of year, and if the timing is right, there are even apples from Aomori dedicated by Aomori apple farmers floating on the water!

During the winter months, the water is covered with snow or frozen, so there are times when it is not floating.

Please refer to this page when you visit Aomori!
