Kitamae Yokocho is a place where Sakata's fascinating culinary culture is presented. Its origin can be traced back to "Yanagikoji Market," which was loved by local citizens from the postwar period until 1976. 85 stores, each about 3 tsubo in size, lined the street, selling fresh foods and local specialties, which were enjoyed by many people.
The "Sakata Yanagikoji Stall Village Kitamae Yokocho" was opened in 2015, while retaining the Yanagikoji Market. Ten stores offering a wide variety of food and drink are lined up in this area, where you can enjoy delicious food and local sake made from local ingredients.
