Founded in 1961 by proprietress Ukon's husband, Bongo has been in business for about 60 years and opened a new location on October 10, 2022. Today, onigiri can be purchased at convenience stores, but in the early days of the company, onigiri were not something people went out to eat, but rather something they made at home, so onigiri specialty stores were a rarity. Today, we are a very popular onigiri specialty restaurant, making more than 1,000 onigiri a day!

The variety of onigiri available at Onigiribongo is very large, with a whopping 56 varieties; 46 years ago, there were only about 20 varieties, and customers told us that the natto onigiri was a rarity. The reason for the wide variety was a comment from a regular customer who said, "I want to try it! This is the reason why we have so many varieties of onigiri. New items have been added to the menu one after another. The newest item on the menu is the "peperoncino rice ball.
