On October 14, 2022, we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the railroad! With various stations all over Japan, railroads have become an indispensable means of transportation in our daily lives, haven't they?
So, this time we will focus on JR East's Oku Station and introduce some trivia unique to Oku Station!

Oku Station" where many trains change trains

Oku Station was opened on August 1, 1924 as "Kaizuka Yard," reclaiming approximately 70,000 tsubo (about 1.5 square meters) of land. On June 20, 1929, the station was renamed "Oku Station" and began operating as a passenger station. In recent years, it has been responsible for the transfer of the "Cassiopeia," which has made a new start as a travel product, and the transfer and maintenance of the "TRAIN SUITE Shikijima.

It is not "Ogu station" but "Oku station!

Oku Station is read as "Oku-eki," but the place names in this area are muddled and read as "Nishi-ogu" or "Higashiogu.
The restrooms located outside the ticket gates are also read "Oku" instead of "Ogu!
