Autumn, when the air is clear and the weather is just right, is the best season for a walk!

This time, we will introduce a tour of spots in Ueno Onshi Park that we recommend for an autumn stroll.
First, exit JR Ueno Station Park Exit and go around in this order: Ryodaibashi Bridge, Tokyo National Museum, Everyone's Cafe, and Parks Ueno (souvenir shop). The tour is close to the station and takes about 3 hours including lunch, so it is a recommended course when you have a little free time during your trip.

Recommended train photo spot "Ryodaishi Bridge" [Takes about 20 minutes].

A 4-minute walk from the Park Exit of Ueno Station toward Uguisudani Station takes you to Ryodaishibashi Bridge, which crosses over the railroad tracks.

Here, you can enjoy a close-up view of trains running on the Yamanote Line, Keihin Tohoku Line, Joban Line, and Ueno Tokyo Line. The path is slightly wider near the center of the bridge, allowing you to take your time train-watching, so we recommend that you enjoy it with your train-loving children. Even if you are not a train lover, you will be tempted to take pictures of the many trains passing by your feet.

The year 2022 marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the railroad. Why don't you enjoy the trains that are still running, carrying people's dreams and hopes?
Yamanote Line and Keihin Tohoku Line (from Ryodaishi-bashi Bridge to Uguisudani Station)
Ueno Tokyo Line (from both Daishi-bashi bridges toward JR Ueno Station)

The Tokyo National Museum, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, is in season! It takes about 60 minutes to get there.

Walk straight west from Ryodaishi-bashi Bridge for about 4 minutes. The Tokyo National Museum, nicknamed "Tohaku" (meaning "East Museum" in Japanese), is the museum with the longest history in Japan, founded in 1872 (Meiji 5).

The museum consists of the main building, six exhibition halls, a reference library, and other facilities, and boasts the largest collection in Japan in terms of quality and quantity. The museum's grounds are large and the amount of exhibits on display is enormous, so it is recommended that visitors focus on a limited number of exhibits rather than trying to visit them all. The "Comprehensive Cultural Exhibition" (regular exhibition) changes exhibits almost every week in one of the exhibition rooms approximately 300 times a year! You will find something new no matter how many times you visit.

The Tokyo National Museum is filled with thousands of years of "history of beauty. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the museum's founding, and with a variety of events planned, it is a must-visit spot this season to enjoy the fall season of the arts.
Main building. The "Imperial Crown Style" with a tiled roof on a concrete structure.
Entrance on the first floor of the main building. You may recognize the marble staircase from a scene in a commercial or TV drama.
The Japanese garden on the north side of the main building. You can see the leaves changing colors in the fall. Autumn at the Tokyo National Museum, where you can experience art and nature, is also very attractive.
A post box next to the main gate commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the museum. The design using an arabesque pattern, the motif of the 150th anniversary logo, is cute.

Just opened in July 2022! Cafes in Ueno Onshi Park are in season!

It is about a 3-minute walk from the Tokyo National Museum. Go to EVERYONEs CAFE for breakfast and brunch.

This café offers a menu that incorporates "Edo-style ingredients," "Tokyo vegetables and Edo vegetables," and seasonal ingredients that originate in Tokyo, and is suitable for people of all ages. The interior is a relaxing space with the warmth of wood, and open terrace seating can be enjoyed with dogs. Spending time while enjoying the view of the Ueno Forest is also a nice autumnal atmosphere.

Since the restaurant is inevitably crowded on holidays, we recommend that you go early for lunch. In addition to lunch, there is a full dessert menu. You can also enjoy a relaxing tea time.
Surrounded by greenery, you may forget that you are in the city.
On a fine day, dining on the terrace is recommended. The food is not only tasty but also beautiful to look at, making it a good place to take pictures.

At the end of your stroll, how about a souvenir unique to Ueno? It takes about 10 minutes.

Awaya Sohei's "Animal Manjuu" (buns). There are standard panda buns and Ueno Park limited edition buns.
At "Parks Ueno," a store in front of the Park Exit of Ueno Station, we found a manjuu (steamed bun) of a shoebill, which is popular at the zoo! We recommend this product to those who are looking for cute Ueno souvenirs other than pandas.

How was your autumn stroll through Ueno Station? In Ueno Onshi Koen, the autumn foliage is usually at its best around the end of November. We hope you will visit Ueno, where you can experience the richness of nature and art.
